What is Package It! for Microsoft Word? Many of us put our Microsoft Word documents online for our students to access, although Word documents are not the most suitable file format for online use. Also, Word documents tend to have large file sizes, especially if we have pictures and graphics in them. Also student MUST have Microsoft Word install in order to view the word document, and its take much longer to load a Microsoft Word document in the browser as compared to a html file, last point, the Microsoft Word document will not display on firefox only Internet Explorer. This is where Package It! for Microsoft Word comes in. Package It! is just a plug-in for Microsoft Word that converts your Word document to a smaller web-friendly file (HTML) and packages it so that you can easily load it onto BlackBoard for your students to access. PackageIt was develop By the IT Team in Ngee Ann Poly. But i can easily save the word document as Web Yes you can but then you will need to zip up all the files together, this can be rather technical for basic PC users. Even for expert users, using packageIt is much faster and easier.

Setting Up and Usage Close Microsoft Word before you start the installation. You can install Package It! for MS Word from here: setup.exe (approx. 0.6 MB) Click on the above link, and choose Open to run the installation. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Open Microsoft Word, and make sure the Package It! button is somewhere on the toolbar: How do i use PackageIT! First save your Word document. You can also open an existing Word document. Click on the Package It! button on the Microsoft Word toolbar. A zip (package) file will be created, and a message will tell you the filename (ends with '-bbzip') and location of the zip file. It's that simple! You can then upload this zip file to edulearn course package.
